How the Ambassador Program Works

Discover how to become an ambassador, earn commissions by promoting campaigns, track your performance, and grow your impact on Share a Goal.

What is an Ambassador?

Ambassadors are community members who help promote campaigns on Share a Goal and earn a commission on every successful donation they refer. Think of it as word-of-mouth fundraising — you share campaigns you believe in, and when people donate through your link, you earn a reward for your efforts.

It is a win-win: campaigns get more visibility and donations, and you get compensated for spreading the word.

Becoming an Ambassador

Here is how to get started:

  • Find a campaign you want to promote and click "Become an Ambassador."
  • Write your application — Explain why you want to help promote this campaign. Are you passionate about the cause? Do you have a relevant audience?
  • Submit and wait — The campaign owner reviews your application and decides whether to approve it.

Some campaigns accept all ambassadors automatically, while others review each application individually.

Getting Your Referral Link

Once your application is approved, you will get your unique referral tools:

  • Unique referral code — A personal code tied to your account that tracks every visitor and donation you refer.
  • Copy your link — A ready-to-share URL with your referral code built in.
  • Social media sharing — One-click sharing buttons for Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and WhatsApp. The link automatically includes your referral code.

When anyone clicks your link and donates, the donation is attributed to you.

How You Earn

Your earnings work like this:

  • Commission rate — Each campaign owner sets a commission rate, typically between 1% and 30% of the donation amount.
  • Automatic tracking — When someone donates through your referral link, the platform automatically calculates your commission.
  • Pending vs. confirmed — Commissions start as "pending" and move to "confirmed" once the donation is fully processed and any holding period has passed.

Example: A campaign has a 10% commission rate. Someone donates $50 through your link. You earn $5 in commission.

Commission Opt-Out

Want to promote a campaign purely out of goodwill? You can donate your commission back to the campaign. Toggle the "Donate my commission" option in your ambassador dashboard, and your earnings will be added directly to the campaign funds instead of going to your account.

You can turn this on or off at any time for each campaign you promote.

Tracking Your Performance

Your ambassador dashboard gives you full visibility into your impact:

  • Clicks — How many people have visited the campaign through your referral link.
  • Conversions — How many of those visitors actually donated.
  • Earnings — A breakdown of confirmed earnings (available to withdraw) and pending earnings (still being processed).
  • Per-campaign breakdown — See your performance for each campaign individually, so you know which campaigns resonate most with your audience.

Ambassador Leaderboard

Top-performing ambassadors are recognized on the platform leaderboard:

  • Ranked by commission earned — See how you compare to other ambassadors promoting the same campaign.
  • Period filters — View rankings for the current week, month, or all time.
  • Motivation and recognition — High-performing ambassadors gain credibility and may receive direct invitations from campaign owners for future campaigns.

For Campaign Owners

If you run a campaign, here is how the ambassador program works from your side:

  • Enable ambassadors — Turn on the ambassador program for your campaign in your campaign settings.
  • Set commission rates — Choose a commission percentage that makes sense for your campaign. Higher rates attract more ambassadors.
  • Invite ambassadors directly — Know someone who would be a great promoter? Send them a direct invitation link — they will not need to apply.
  • Review applications — When someone applies to become an ambassador, review their profile and message. Approve the ones you trust to represent your campaign well.

Accepting Invitations

Sometimes a campaign owner will send you a direct invitation to become an ambassador:

  • Check your notifications — You will receive an email and an in-app notification with the invitation details.
  • Review the campaign — Look at the campaign page, its goals, and the commission rate being offered.
  • Accept to get started — Accepting the invitation automatically approves your ambassador application. You can start sharing your referral link right away, with no waiting for approval.

Direct invitations are a great sign — it means the campaign owner values your reach and influence.
