How Sponsorship Works on Share a Goal

Learn how companies and organizations can sponsor campaigns, match donations, and amplify their impact through the escrow-backed sponsorship system.

What is Sponsorship?

Sponsorship on Share a Goal lets companies and organizations support campaigns they believe in. As a sponsor, you can pledge funds directly to a campaign and even match donations made by the community — doubling or tripling the impact of every dollar donated.

Sponsors receive prominent visibility on the campaigns they support, building goodwill and brand recognition while making a real difference.

Becoming a Sponsor

Getting started as a sponsor is straightforward:

  • Create your sponsor profile — Add your company name, logo, website, and a short description of your mission.
  • Get verified — Our admin team reviews your profile to confirm your organization is legitimate. This helps build trust with campaign owners and donors.
  • Browse campaigns — Once verified, you can explore active campaigns and find causes that align with your values.

Proposing a Sponsorship

When you find a campaign you want to support:

  • Choose the campaign and click "Propose Sponsorship."
  • Set your pledge amount — This is the total amount you are committing to the campaign.
  • Pick a display tier — Your sponsorship level (Platinum, Gold, Silver, or Bronze) determines the size and placement of your logo on the campaign page.
  • Enable donation matching (optional) — Turn on matching to multiply the impact of community donations.
  • Add a message — Tell the campaign owner and community why you are supporting this cause.

The campaign owner will review your proposal and can accept or decline it.

Donation Matching Explained

Donation matching is one of the most powerful tools sponsors have. Here is how it works:

  • Matching ratio — You set a ratio like 1:1, 2:1, or 3:1. A 2:1 ratio means for every $1 a donor gives, you contribute an additional $2.
  • Budget cap — You set a maximum amount you are willing to match. Once the cap is reached, matching stops automatically.
  • Min/max thresholds — You can set minimum and maximum donation sizes that qualify for matching. For example, only match donations between $10 and $500.

Example: You set a 2:1 match with a $5,000 budget cap. A donor gives $100 — your escrow automatically contributes $200. This continues until the $5,000 cap is reached.

Escrow System

To guarantee that matching funds are available, Share a Goal uses an escrow system:

  • Fund your escrow — Before matching can begin, you deposit funds into a secure escrow account.
  • Automatic deductions — When a qualifying donation comes in, the matched amount is deducted from your escrow balance automatically.
  • Track your balance — Your sponsor dashboard shows your current escrow balance, every transaction, and how much matching budget remains.
  • Full transparency — Both you and the campaign owner can see exactly how escrow funds are being used.

For Campaign Owners

If you run a campaign, here is how sponsorships work from your side:

  • Review proposals — When a sponsor proposes support for your campaign, you will receive a notification. Review their profile and terms, then accept or decline.
  • Invite sponsors — You can proactively invite specific sponsors to support your campaign by sending them a direct invitation.
  • Sponsor badges — Accepted sponsors appear on your campaign page with their logo and tier badge, showing visitors that your campaign has institutional backing.

Matching Rules Lifecycle

Matching rules follow a clear lifecycle so there are no surprises:

  • Paused at creation — When you set up a matching rule, it starts in a paused state until your escrow is funded.
  • Auto-activates — Once your escrow has enough funds to cover at least one match, the rule activates automatically.
  • Active matching — Qualifying donations are matched in real time as they come in.
  • Auto-exhausts — When your matching budget runs out, the rule moves to an exhausted state. You can top up your escrow to reactivate it.

This system ensures donors and campaign owners can always trust that matching promises will be fulfilled.
